File encryption for Windows

Lock what matters.
Keep the key.

Clavis encrypts your files and folders right on your PC. No account, no cloud, no one else holding the key.

  1. 01It starts with your file — readable to anyone.
  2. 02Clavis scrambles it with AES-256-GCM.
  3. 03Your password becomes the key that turns the lock.
  4. 04Locked. Only your key opens it again.

What it does

Built like a vault.
Simple as a folder.

Everything you need to keep private files private — and nothing that gets in the way.

Any file, any size

Documents, photos, whole folders — even huge videos. Clavis encrypts in small, individually verified pieces, so even very large files go through smoothly.

A recovery key

Forgot your password? A one-time recovery key, kept somewhere safe, gets you back into your vault — protected with post-quantum cryptography.

Verify, without opening

Check that encrypted files are intact and still open with your password — nothing is decrypted to disk.

Watch folders

Pick a folder like Downloads or Scans. New files dropped in are locked automatically.

Two keys if you want

Add a key file as a second factor — your password alone isn't enough without it.

Updates itself

Small, automatic updates. You choose when to restart — your vaults and settings are never touched.

The app

Calm on the surface.
Serious underneath.

Drag a file in, choose Encrypt, done. Light and dark themes, a clear activity history, and nothing to configure unless you want to.

How it works

Three steps. That's it.

  1. i

    Install

Run the installer — no administrator rights needed. Clavis appears in your Start menu.

  2. ii

    Create your vault

Choose a strong password. Clavis gives you a recovery key to keep somewhere safe.

  3. iii

    Lock your files

Drop files or folders in and press Encrypt. Decrypt them the same way, whenever you need.

Private by design

Your files never leave your PC. Neither does your password.

  • No accountNothing to sign up for. Install it and start.
  • No cloudEncryption happens on your computer — your files are never uploaded.
  • No trackingNo analytics, no telemetry. It only goes online to check for updates.
  • Works offlineEncrypt and decrypt without an internet connection.

Your files. Your key.

Clavis is Latin for key. Download it, and keep yours.
